Innosense

The human species is actually deemed among the weakest of most species in the world. Yet we have the sixth sense and various other capabilities which have led to the growth and development of society, culture and habitation. We have come a long way and learnt a lot from the experience so far. But then there’s “miles to go before we sleep” in various fields to realize Utopia. Something in the news about child abuse.

Childhood dictates a child’s future I guess. The concept of female infanticide fascinated me...till today. I always felt that women aren’t respected for what they are and female infanticide was so true to that in all aspects. You were killed because you were born a woman. The decision was made conveniently by the parents. I saw a young woman today – around 18 years old. She had a nice and big ugly scar on the lower half of her face just below the mouth and all facial features of that region had been obliterated. The lower lip was kinda shrunken and abnormal looking. I hope I have painted a gruesome picture for you to understand the severity of the situation. She was a burns victim. But then…she struck me as a very beautiful woman. She had a cute smiling face and looked extremely self confident.

Everybody keeps saying India is progressing quite well and I do agree. We are a reasonably young country and for our size, the growth is quite appreciable. But then there are such incidents also which still continue to occur across the nation and considered passé too in parochial sectors. We could blame lack of education and awareness allows for such elements to be prevalent and yet there have been case reports of well educated and civilized individuals who indulge in such things.

True growth must always be measured at the grass - root levels only I feel since it shows the progress of the common man. Regarding my accusation of humans being among the weakest species is that – we are not self reliant after birth also. We need support and guidance during the growing years. We need help and protection during childhood. When this childhood is totally misguided and unprotected….growth is truly stunted and directionless.
